According to Human Rights Watch, Nigeria is deeply entrenched in human rights problems. Decades of corruption, child abuse, human trafficking, sexual harassment and unlawful arrest, have created a rot in our society. It slows down our businesses, hinders education, creates poverty, it subjugates our families and leads to a loss of our identity.
One of the factors constantly fermenting this cesspit of hidden, obvious and recurring violation is peoples ignorance of their Fundamental Human Rights and heritage The My Right to Know Campaign is aimed at engaging key stakeholders to lobby the Nigerian government to enable human rights education and black history to be taught in Nigerian schools. We cannot forget who we are, what we have been through and what we stand for.
Think Know Act Initiative believes that for profound changes to become established, it must commence from seminal education; the very basis of formal learning. Young people are in the forefront of such form of education, and this has a massive consequence on the calibre of citizen they would become. As we empower our youth with this knowledge, we provide our country with the opportunity of a new dawn, a brighter future, and a change in popular perception as well as the feeling of patriotism for our great Nigeria.
We hereby urge you to sign our petition - To demand the Ministry of Education to incorporate 'human rights education and black history' in both primary and secondary school national curriculum.
As you, sign this petition, we collectively create a constant, structured and solid foundation for our generation in making Nigeria a better place.
WE ALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW OUR RIGHTS!
